A Bit About Me
Marlie Bolin (he/they) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor with an M.S. in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from UNC Chapel Hill. Their ideal client is ages 13 through late adulthood, with presenting issues such as gender identity and sexuality challenges, relational or partnership challenges, neurodivergent identity (ASD/ADHD) and disability identity (I/DD, chronic illness, TBI), polyamory and non-monogamy, and career transitions. Marlie has over 5 years experience working with individuals identifying as LGBTQIA+, and over 2 years experience working with relationships in a clinical setting. Marlie is an active member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender-Expansive Identities (SAIGE), American Rehabilitation Counseling Association (ARCA).
Marlie believes in creating a safe, collaborative space in which clients can process and share without judgment, and in being an enthusiastic ally on each of their unique journeys. They underscore intersectionality in their approach to understanding every client’s experience in the context of all of the identities they hold, and their primary modalities include Emotion-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Trauma Informed Therapy. Marlie specifically has extensive post-graduate experience with Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy, completing an EFT Externship in 2022.
They specialize in helping individuals and couples of all makeups in navigating life transitions and relationship evolution, as well as in supporting people in leading self-determined lives. Additionally, they are passionate about serving queer, trans, and non-binary folx, and emphasize cultural humility in their approach to counseling.
Fun facts: Marlie is a Table-Top Roleplaying Game (TTRPG) enthusiast, and frequently leads homebrew fantasy and sci-fi adventures with their partners and friends. They also love powerlifting, boxing, playing the cello, and rescuing plants from discount bins at garden stores.
